Forward Feminism: A Multi-Faceted Campaign to Ensure the Future Strength of Our Movement

Organizing For Our Future: The NOW Foundation Endowment

Throughout our history, NOW and the NOW Foundation have been fiercely committed to the power of grassroots activism. We have relied almost exclusively on the donations of individual members and supporters to fund our work, which has been a source of our strength and independence as a political and social movement, but it also has been the source of some financial uncertainty over the years.

In order to provide a steady stream of income and to ensure our future financial stability and growth, the NOW Foundation board has established a permanent Endowment Fund as part of the Forward Feminism fund raising campaign.

Here's how the Endowment Fund works. Gifts made by individuals to the endowment are added together to form the fund's principal, which cannot be spent under ordinary circumstances. The funds are carefully invested, and each year a portion of the earnings can be paid out to the NOW Foundation for special projects and to support the day-to-day work of organizing for our future.

By making gifts to the endowment fund, you can help to forward feminism by ensuring that our organizations have a strong, stable institutional base from which to operate. Individual donors can choose to make gifts to the endowment in two ways:

> by making gifts of existing assets, such as stocks, securities or cash, or

> by making an endowment gift through a will, charitable gift annuity or other estate plan.

In addition to supporting the general endowment, you can also choose to establish special endowment funds in your name or in the name of someone you would like to honor.
