Forward Feminism: A Multi-Faceted Campaign to Ensure the Future Strength of Our Movement

Building For Our Future: The NOW Foundation Capital Fund

After more than four decades of inspired activism, it is time for us to invest in a feminist future by establishing a permanent presence in the nation's capital.

As part of the Forward Feminism campaign, the NOW Foundation is seeking tax-deductible contributions to buy a building in the Washington, D.C., area that will serve as home for both NOW and NOW Foundation. As a symbol of intrepid feminist vision, a NOW building will honor the feminists who have preceded us, strengthen our present work, and embody an enduring promise of equality and justice for succeeding generations of women and girls.

Buying a building is also a fiscally prudent move. A building owned by NOW Foundation and leased to NOW will allow us to put the hundreds of thousands of dollars NOW pays annually for leased office space directly to work in building our movement. Other savings may include leasing space in the building to sister organizations, renting our conference facilities to allies, and including new time and cost-saving technology within the work space.

Now is the time for us to move forward and join other feminist organizations, like our allies at the American Association of University Women and the National Council of Negro Women, in establishing a permanent home of our own. You can play an important role in helping us take this important step by making a tax-deductible gift to the NOW Foundation Capital Fund.

Our own building will offer many opportunities to celebrate those donors whose generosity will help make this dream a reality. You could see your name or the name of a person you wish to honor prominently featured on or within the NOW building. In addition, there will be permanent recognition within the building of each and every donor who helps us reach our goals: $2 million in hand by January 2009 and an additional $5 million to pay off the building in full by December 2011.
