2005 Women of Color & Allies Summit:
Traveling to Washington

The Women of Color and Allies Summit will be held at the Doubletree Hotel Crystal City in Arlington, Va., just outside of Washington, D.C. All Summit events will take place on-site at the Doubletree.

Hotel Parking | Things to Do in Washington, D.C.

Airports: Washington National Airport (DCA) is conveniently located two miles from the conference hotel. The two other airports in the Washington metropolitan area are Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD), about a 35-minute drive from the hotel, and Baltimore/Washington International Airport (BWI), about a 45-minute drive from the hotel. Many major airlines, including American, United and Continental, fly into DCA. Additionally, the hotel provides complimentary shuttle service to and from Washington National Airport (DCA) every half-hour from 5 am until midnight.

Public transportation: The Pentagon City Metro stop on the Blue and Yellow lines is conveniently located three blocks away from the conference hotel. Additionally, the hotel provides complimentary shuttle service to and from the nearby Metro stops at Crystal City, Pentagon City and the Pentagon. All of the Washington D.C. attractions are easily accessible by Metro.

Driving Directions:

From National Airport: From the airport, take Crystal City Exit. Exit Crystal Drive. Follow approximately one mile to Army Navy Drive and make a right. The hotel will be on left.

From Washington Dulles International Airport: From the airport take the Dulles Access Road towards the direction of Washington D.C. Take 66 East to 110 South. Stay in Center lane and 110 become Route 1 South. This will take you into Crystal City which is located in Arlington, VA. In Crystal City make a right onto 15th Street. Then make a right onto Eads Street and go three blocks and make a right onto Army Navy Drive. The hotel is at 300 Army Navy Dr.

From Downtown D.C.: Cross the Memorial Bridge going to Arlington Cemetery. Take the exit for 110 South. Stay in the center lane and 110 becomes Route 1 South. At light make a right on 20th Street. Make a right on Eads Street and a right on Army Navy Drive. The hotel is on the right.

From 495 Bethesda/Rockville: Take the George Washington Parkway towards Washington. Take the Memorial Bridge/Arlington Cemetery Exit. At the stop sign make a left and then take the exit for 110 South. Exit right onto Army Navy Drive/395 North, at light turn left and the hotel is on the right.

From 66 East: Take 66 East towards Washington. Take the exit for 110 South stay in the center lane and 110 becomes Route 1 South. At the light make a right on 20th Street. Make a right on Eads Street and a right on Army Navy Drive. The hotel is on the right.

From Dupont Circle: Follow Massachusetts Avenue to 14th Street. Make a right onto 14th Street and continue on 14th Street to 395 south Richmond. Once over 14th Street Bridge take first exit on left (Crystal City National Airport) to Route 1 south, right on 20th St. Then at first light take right on south Eads Street (three blocks) take right on 11th street into hotel parking.

From Washington Circle: Take 23rd Street south from Washington Circle. Go around Lincoln Memorial and across. Continue over Memorial Bridge and 1/2 way around circle. Take the Route 110 South exit (Arlington/Pentagon). Follow Route 110 south approx. 2 1/2 miles to the Army Navy Drive exit 395 North. Hotel will be on the left. Take a left on South Eads Street, take a left onto 11th Street and you'll end up in the hotel garage.

From 395 North: Take 395 North to Route 1, Crystal City/National Airport, at the traffic light make a left on Army Navy Drive. The hotel is on your right side. - Two traffic lights down Army Navy Drive.

From Points North: Take 95 South to the Baltimore Washington Parkway south to New York Avenue exit. Take New York Avenue to 395 South towards Virginia. Take the exit for Route 1 South, Crystal City. Make a right on 20th Street. Make a right on Eads Street and a right on Army Navy Drive. The hotel is on the right.

From Route 270 South: Take Route 270 South to 495 (Richmond) then follow signs for George Washington Parkway. Follow Parkway to the Memorial Bridge Exit. At first stop sign make left, then follow signs for Route 110 South (Arlington/Pentagon) Approximately two miles take 395 North and look for Army Navy Drive Exit. Hotel will be on the left. Take left onto South Eads, left on 11th into hotel garage.

From Silver Spring & Potomac, MD: Follow signs for Capitol Beltway, 495 (Richmond) Once over the Cabin John Bridge, take first exit on right (George Washington Parkway) Continue on the Parkway to the Memorial Bridge Exit, make left at stop sign, then follow signs for 110 South. Approximately 2 miles take 395 North and Army Navy Drive exit. Hotel will be on the left. Take a left onto South Eads, left on 11th Street into the hotel garage.

From Annapolis/Bowie/Collington, MD: Take Route 50 West (Washington) Follow Route 50 and it becomes New York Avenue. Go across 14th Street Bridge and take exit for Route 1 South, Crystal City. Make a right on 20th Street. Make a right on Eads Street and another right onto Army Navy Drive. The hotel will be on the right.

From Points South: Take 95 North to 395 (Springfield) to the Crystal City National Airport exit. Exit onto Army Navy Drive and take a left. The hotel will be 3 blocks on the right.

Hotel Parking: The Doubletree Hotel Crystal City offers daily, overnight and valet parking, managed by Towne Park. The self-parking rate is $15/day and the valet parking rate is $20/day.

Things to Do in Washington, D.C.

Welcome to Crystal City, Va.! We are excited to have the Women of Color and Allies Summit in the Washington D.C. area. The hotel is conveniently located just a few blocks away from the Pentagon City Metro shop, accessible to all of D.C.'s attractions. While you're in D.C. there are tons of sights to see and places to visit. Here is a short list of some things you might want to do if you have a chance.

National Museum of the American Indian: The Smithsonian's National Museum of the American Indian opened on Sept. 21, 2004. This brand-new museum, located on Washington's National Mall, celebrates and displays the histories, cultures, and achievements of Native Americans from North, Central and Central America. Metro: L'Enfant Plaza.

National Museum of Women in the Arts: The NMWA contains more than 3,000 works of art by women from the 16th century to the present. The NMWA is the only museum in the world that is solely devoted to acknowledging the contributions and works of women artists. Metro: Metro Center.

National Women's History Museum: The NWHM celebrates and recognizes women's histories and their contributions that have shaped American culture and society.
